Winter Storm Skylar

Good Evening,

This is an important message from Whitman Public Safety Officials regarding the approaching winter storm.

The Town of Whitman is declaring a snow emergency starting at 12AM on Tuesday 3/13 and the snow emergency will remain in effect until 7AM on Thursday 3/15.

All on-street parking and parking in municipal lots is prohibited during a snow emergency.
Vehicles impeding snow removal will be towed at the owner's expense.

National Grid is identifying this storm as a type 3 event, meaning any power loss may not be restored for up to 72 hours after the storm.

We strongly recommend that everyone take the necessary precautions and prepare for a potential major winter storm.

We encourage you to have emergency supplies on hand in the event of power outages.

Trash will not be picked up tomorrow March 13th and the trash schedule will be on a one day delay for the remainder of the week, so please plan accordingly. Please do not leave trash barrels out tonight as they will be covered in snow and may be damaged by snow removal equipment.

The Town Hall, Library, and Senior Center will be closed on Tuesday 3/13.

Whitman officials will continue monitoring the storm over the next 24 hours and provide further updates if necessary. In the event a warming center or shelter is needed further information will be sent out.

Please remember to never run a generator in your home or attached garage, check carbon monoxide and smoke detectors and also ensure dryer and heating vents are clear of snow.
