Police Chief Scott D. Benton announces that the Whitman Police Department will be hosting a two-day instructor course on ALICE active shooter response training.
The training will teach those who attend to become certified ALICE instructors. ALICE stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter and Evacuate.
The course teaches proactive, options-based strategies that increase the chances of survival during a violent intruder or active shooter event. Those who attend the course can take the strategies they have learned back to their workplace or organization and instruct others on how to safely respond during such an event.
The cost of the course is $595 and is open to the public, including parents and residents. Those who would like to attend can register at www.alicetraining.com
