[ARCHIVED] Whitman Fire Lieutenant Achieves Multiple Certifications

Fire training

Chief Timothy J. Grenno is pleased to announce that Lt. Timothy Clancy of the Whitman Fire Department has achieved three new certifications. Before the New Year, Lt. Clancy received the following certifications from the Department of Fire Services Massachusetts Training Council and the National Fire Academy:

• Fire Officer II

• Data Gathering Instruments to Support Applied Research Projects

• Designing an Applied Research Project Proposal

The Fire Officer II certification provides Lt. Clancy with a better foundation for dealing with emergency mitigation. The Data Gathering Instruments to Support Applied Research Projects certification is in recognition of his enhanced understanding of the use of data-gathering tools and when to use them.

The Applied Research certification reflects Lt. Clancy's ability to complete an effective research proposal. “We’re lucky to have Lt. Clancy and thank him for continuing his education,” Chief Grenno said. “We encourage all of our firefighters to seek further education and training to help better our department and level of service to the community.”

By adding these certifications, Lt. Clancy is furthering his understanding of the fire service and his position within the Whitman Fire Department's operations, as well as a stronger sense of best practices in protecting the safety of his fellow firefighters.
