Perhaps if we stop building single family and apartment homes-which tend to bring more children into the community which increases the need for additional money for the school budget which the property taxes on these homes built do not nearly cover the expense/cost for sending even one child to school. We need to focus on building up businesses within the town and/or senior housing which will generate more tax revenue with not so much expense needing to be added for the town and school budget.

Is there any way to have the Dept of Public Works Yard open to Whitman residents a little later one or two weekdays from 6/28 onward? I know it is open on Saturdays 7AM-3PM from 4/19-6/28, but after 6/28, if you are not a retiree, unemployed, stay at home parent, etc. the 7AM-3PM hours during the work week (M-F) are a challenge. This wouldn't be an issue if there was curbside pick up of leaves/grass clippings in Whitman like other towns do. Just a suggestion. Thank you for your time.

This problem is now effecting everyone, it does not discriminate. I think at this point everyone knows someone that this is effecting. I myself have 2 sons addicted to Heroin and trust me when I say their is not enough being done! Waiting lists, insurance issues are just the beginning. As a Mother of 2 addicts I look around in the different towns that I drive through or that I once lived and there are MANY empty building that can be used to help with the fight. I understand it costs money, alot of money but I believe that this is something that needs to be addressed and the monies need to become available! Is it up to the town, state, owner of the condos (Mosaic Gardens), or whoever. VERY FRUSTRATING!

The trash problem on the main and secondary roads of this town is absolutely shameful. I cannot believe the massive amounts of empty nip bottles, hypodermic needles, used condoms, beer cans, plastic of every shape and size, abandoned furniture, and general filth strewn along every inch of road. Covered/lidded garbage and recycling bins should be mandatory. Businesses should be required to keep their street fronts and grounds clean. I would like to invite the town manager and officials to take a walk down these streets with me so they can see first hand how deplorable the situation. People should be fined for allowing filth to pile up in their front yards after a certain date in Spring. And the daily/weekly "yard sales" on Washington Street near Whitman Convenience should be stopped. This town used to have some civic pride. What happened? Until some poor child contracts a disease from a dirty needle found at the park, I doubt anyone will do anything about it. Any ideas??

Story telling, simple arts and crafts, musical activities, etc. Our senior community has much to share with our youngsters, and many of our youngsters may not always have a lot of interaction with seniors. This is a great way to bring both together in a casual environment which can be both fun and educational as well.

I shall, for lack of a better term, call it plawking or plogging. This activity got its start in Sweden/Scandinavia . Joggers began picking up litter along their path I take walks down Washington St. and when I do, the amount of garbage littering our town is appalling! Now when I walk, I take a plastic bag and pick up the litter as I walk. At first, I was embarrassed pursuing this activity, but the more I thought about it, it is the people who litter that should be embarrassed. I am not an organizer, never have been, but there are some things I feel I have a moral responsibility to address. I don't know if there is an incentive already in practice. If there is, I would love to hear more.

Where was the money spent "heroes"!!!??? Months and months the taxpayers wait for a budget. MONTHS!!! These useless voids have absolutely no idea where and how they are spending taxpayer money! Bring in a 3rd-Party Auditor and bring these charlatans to heel. This FLU-LOCKDOWN has shown people that the school system is a complete joke and not needed. Hey Whitman, how about you refund any and all taxpayers the money we have wasted on these POS teachers, administrators and others! You wont though... too many mindless teacher drones will run to the "dreaded" social media to complain/cry about "the children" and the teacher union will get mad! Oh no!!!
